Ranking Charles Leclerc's five F1 race wins so far

With 125 Grand Prix entries to his name, Charles Leclerc has achieved five race wins so far in Formula 1. The Ferrari star is looking ahead to his seventh season in F1 - his sixth with Ferrari - as he aims to add to his tally and take on the challenge of competing at the front of the field. RacingNews365 takes a look back on Leclerc's F1 career to date and ranks his wins so far. 5. 2022 Australian Grand Prix F1's first trip to the Albert Park Circuit since the Covid-19 pandemic saw Leclerc secure his second win in three races to mark a seismic start to the campaign. Leclerc took pole position the day before and resisted the competition when the lights went out to retain his lead. The Monegasque driver set a marker as he built an advantage in the opening stages of the race, looking in complete control of the field. A challenge was thrown Ferrari's way when a Safety Car was deployed midway through the Grand Prix but Leclerc resisted the challenge from Max Verstappen at the restart, before the Dutchman retired with a technical issue. Leclerc was then left with little challenge and he took the victory to extend his championship lead to 34 points - however Red Bull would go on to dominate much of the remaining races en route to the titles. 4. 2022 Austrian Grand Prix Having lost his championship lead a handful of races prior, Leclerc was offered something to cheer about midway through the season when he prevailed in Austria, defeating Red Bull on home soil. Starting from second on the grid, Leclerc remained close to race leader Verstappen throughout the opening stint and on lap 12, he overtook his rival for the lead. A game of strategy was then set in play with Ferrari opting to keep Leclerc out on his tyres much later than Verstappen. Although Verstappen was able to re-take the lead when Leclerc pitted, the latter's fresh tyres allowed him to catch up and overtake for the race lead. Despite struggling with car woes, Leclerc held off Verstappen and won the race. At the time of writing, the victory remains Leclerc's most recent in F1. 3. 2019 Belgian Grand Prix It was undoubtedly one of the most emotional race weekends in Leclerc's career. Hours after he took his third career pole position at Spa-Francorchamps, his close friend Anthoine Hubert was killed in a crash during the Formula 2 Feature Race. Leclerc took the start from the head of the field and with a weight of despair on his shoulders, he navigated the race to take the first win of his F1 career. It was Leclerc's race to lose as the then-second-year Ferrari driver showed strong pace throughout the 44 laps. His progress was not stalled by teammate Sebastian Vettel, who opted to let Leclerc overtake while on differing strategies. 2. 2019 Italian Grand Prix One week after his victory at the Spa-Francorhamps Circuit, Leclerc fulfilled the dream of any Ferrari F1 driver - winning in front of a sellout Monza crowd. Leclerc secured another pole position to the delight of the Tifosi and set off in pursuit of back-to-back wins. His quest in Monza was to be far greater than that in Spa - teammate Vettel spun early on and endured a nightmare race, leaving Leclerc to be pitched against the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. The trio pushed hard to secure the win with all suffering off-track moments at Turn 1, but Leclerc held on to take the victory, less than a second in front of runner-up Bottas. 1. 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix The sport's new era under rejigged technical regulations got off to a booming start, with Leclerc besting Verstappen under the lights in Bahrain. Pole position went the way of Leclerc but he felt the pressure of Verstappen early on. Following with DRS, Verstappen overtook Leclerc on lap 17, but the latter immediedeltly regained the lead in the following braking zone. A mirroring tussle would follow two laps later with Verstappen briefly moving ahead before Leclerc put the Red Bull in his mirrors. The fantastic battle was encapsulating to watch and it appeared that Leclerc had seen off the threat before a Safety Car was deployed late in the race. He was then forced to defend from the chasing pack and did so comfortably, with both Red Bulls dropping out in the final laps with technical issues.
