Gasly sets ambitious but ‘achievable’ target for Alpine in 2025

Pierre Gasly has set a high bar for Alpine in 2025, a target that reflects both his confidence and his understanding of the challenging landscape of Formula 1. The 2024 season was a tough one for the Enstone squad, as the team faced significant challenges, particularly with the overweight A524 car that hampered their performance early on. Despite these setbacks, Alpine found a late-season surge, notably with a double podium finish in Brazil that helped propel them from ninth place to sixth in the Constructors’ standings. Aiming High Despite Fierce Competition Gasly, who has been an integral part of the team’s progress, was asked at last week’s Autosport Awards about his hopes for this season, and his response was clear: he’s aiming high. "I'll go with a top five in the constructors', because that's what I want and I think that's definitely achievable," the Frenchman confidently answered. Though his target of a top-five finish may seem ambitious, Gasly is realistic about the challenges Alpine will face. "Obviously deep inside me I'd like more than that, but I've got to be objective and know that it's going to be a tight field, a competitive field, and I don't expect massive change compared to last year,” he added. Gasly’s words are not just a reflection of his personal drive but a reminder that the competition in Formula 1 is fiercer than ever. While he's hopeful for more than just a top-five finish, the 28-year-old knows that the 2025 season will be closely contested, and Alpine – with executive advisor Flavio Briatore and team principal Oliver Oakes now at the helm - will need to extract every ounce of performance from their car to stay competitive. Doohan: It’s a Special Time for Me Lining up alongside Gasly this season is rookie Jack Doohan, a driver with a vastly different set of ambitions as he embarks on his maiden Formula 1 campaign. The 22-year-old Aussie will have one clear priority – learning the ropes and gaining valuable experience – while also aiming to make his mark by contributing to Alpine’s midfield battle for points. “It’s a super special time for me. I’m stoked to be part of it,” Doohan told Sky Sports. “I’ve been with the team all last week and the start of this week to spend a great day capturing our moments ahead of the year. “I’m very motivated.
