Lewis Hamilton has voiced his desire to remain in Formula 1 untilthe South African Grand Prix returns to the schedule. The SouthAfrican race was a consistent event on the F1 calendar in the 1970sand 80s, held around the Kyalami Circuit. It was last part of theschedule in 1993, a race won by Alain Prost during his final seasonin F1. The sport has been working to include South Africa on thecalendar going forward to boost its reach to six continents duringthe season. Talks have been ongoing for the last handful of years -however plans to bring the event back for the 2023 season werescrapped, believed to be centred around political issues . However,Hamilton has asserted that he is taking measures into his own handsto ensure that the African continent is represented on the calendarin the future. “I’m working in the background to get South Africaon the race [calendar],” the seven-time World Champion said.“That’s like such a dream for me, I’ve got to stay until they getthat race.”
