To get right to the point: Red Bull broke five very specialrecords. Who could have imagined before 2023 that the team fromMilton Keynes would turn such a season? Red Bull took 21 wins from22 races with the unapproachable RB19 and would leave thecompetition completely defenseless. Max Verstappen single-handedlyensured the constructors' title by adding 19 victories to his listof honors and thus became world champion himself in gloriousfashion among drivers. But which records have fallen On its way toa season of unrivalled dominance in Formula 1, Red Bull broke fivemajor records as it wrapped up both titles with the absoluteminimum of fuss. Mercedes' George Russell predicted after theseason-opener in Bahrain that Red Bull would win every race in theseason, and while that did not happen, the Milton Keynes outfitgave it an unbelievably close shot, falling just one short ofbecoming the first-ever team to sweep a season. Max Verstappen'sdominance was so great that he would have won the Constructors'title by himself by 166 points with his 575 dwarfing the 409Mercedes could haul for second place. But which records did RedBull smash in 2023? . Most wins in a season - 21 The previousbenchmark for most victories in a season fell to Mercedes in 2016,when the W07 was driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to 19wins from the 21 races that year. The two they failed to win camein Spain when they played team-mate total wipeout on the openinglap, and in Malaysia when Hamilton's engine famously expired whileen route to a comfortable win. But with victory in Las Vegas, RedBull recorded their 20th win of the year as Verstappen broke therecord for the team, further extending it in the Abu Dhabi finale -a race the triple World Champion has now won for the past fouryears in a row. The only fumble from Red Bull in a Grand Prix camein Singapore, when set-up issues led to both Verstappen and SergioPerez being dumped in Q2, before climbing to fifth and eighth inthe race. Without a badly-timed Safety Car, it is possibleVerstappen might have won there too... Like many of these records, some consider it easier to achieve them in modern F1 with theever-increasing number of races on the calendar. That might be trueand offer more races to be won, but they still have to be won. Ateam must still execute the Grand Prix weekend and deliver theresult. Highest percentage of wins - 95.45% Maybe that's why thehighest percentage of wins is slightly more relevant. And let RedBull hold that record as well. The team from Milton Keynes won95.45% of the races, once again obliterating a special record heldby the legendary McLaren from 1988. Back then, Ayrton Senna andAlain Prost together won 93.75% of Grands Prix, representing 15 outof 16 races. When you look at it like that, it is very special thatRed Bull has recorded so many victories. With the most wins in aseason, also comes the highest percentage of wins, with Red Bullclocking in at a hefty 95.45% for 2023. This eclipses, just, the93.75% recorded in 1988 from McLaren's Ayrton Senna and Alain Prostwith their 15 wins from 16 races. The only race they fumbled thatyear was the Italian Grand Prix where Prost retired with enginetrouble while Senna famously collided with backmarker Jean-LouisSchlesser late on. This opened the door for a Ferrari one-two atMonza, just weeks after the death of Enzo. Most consecutive wins -15 Another one of the records to be making its way from Woking toMilton Keynes is that for most consecutive Grand Prix wins, withRed Bull raising the level to 15. Their run actually began in the2022 Abu Dhabi GP, and continued on for the first 14 races of 2023until defeat to Carlos Sainz in Singapore. The existing record of11 was passed at the British Grand Prix, with the run coming to anend in Italy after Verstappen's own record-breaking 10thconsecutive win. Most points in the constructors' championship -860 Red Bull also took over two other records from Mercedes. TheSilver Arrows held the record for most points for a constructor:765 in 2016. Red Bull already came very close last year with 759points, but this year they added quite a bit more. The many wins aswell as podium finishes eventually led to 860 points, edgingMercedes' record by 95 points. Going back to 2016 and Mercedes, RedBull also took the Silver Arrows' record of most points in theConstructors', ending up with 860. Now, this must be caveated bythe fact that there were 22 Grands Prix in 2023 compared to 21 in2016, allowing for an extra 43 points, plus one for the fastestlap. Moreover, there were 90 points on offer across the six Sprintweekends for a one-two finish in each, meaning a grand total of 134more points were on offer to Red Bull as it broke the record thanwas to Mercedes. In the end, Red Bull's 860 points smashedMercedes' 2016 tally of 765 by 95 points, with the team scoring anaverage of 39.09 per race. As an aside, Red Bull has also movedinto second place on the all-time list for most points scored by aConstructor, with 7248, passing Mercedes' 7222.5. Both are wellbehind Ferrari's 9672. Largest lead in constructors' championshipThe third record pinched from Mercedes' 2016 campaign is ratherpredictable with the largest lead in the Constructors'Championship. Red Bull beat Mercedes by just the 451 points in2023, gulfing the 297 Mercedes had over Red Bull back in the thirdseason of the turbo hybrid era.
